Facilities granted with permits or subject to the notification requirement would be subject to checks and inspection by the Customs and Excise Department. These checks mainly aim at verifying and ensuring the accuracy of the information related to permits and the particulars in any reports submitted to the Director-General of Trade and Industry. The Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) may also send inspection teams to conduct inspection on such facilities. The main purpose of these inspections is to verify the information furnished by the facilities in their reports and notifications which were included in declarations submitted to the OPCW. The Ordinance requires facilities concerned to provide all requisite records and render necessary assistance and cooperation to officers of the Customs and Excise Department and the inspection teams of OPCW during these inspections. Facilities should cooperate and provide the necessary assistance and information to facilitate the inspections. As these inspections may be conducted at short notice or even without prior notice, operators of facilities are advised to properly keep and organise all relevant records to enable easy retrieval at the time of inspection.
